Parent Orientation Power Point Presentations
Summer orientations are a time for both parents and students to become familiar with CU-Boulder. Below you will find the 2014 Power Point outlines used by the parent orientation presenters and facilitated by George “Barney” Ballinger, Director of Parent Relations.
Living With Your CU Student: Look at the changes that parents may face having a student in college. Explore ways you and your student can deal with and make the most of these experiences.
Campus Essentials: Learn how CU is unique from other universities in the area of finances and quality health care and how to stay involved and informed as a parent. Representatives from Wardenburg Health Center, the Bursar’s Office, the Registrar’s Office, Parking and Transportation Services, and Parent Relations will present valuable information and answer all your questions.
Residence Life: Information for parents of students living in the residence halls. Learn about services and programs offered by the Office of Housing and Dining Services from Residence Life Staff.
Stress, Risk-taking, Alcohol, and Drugs: What Every CU Parent Should Know: Dr. Don Misch, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health and Wellness and Director of Wardenburg Health Center, will share strategies for talking to your student about topics that impact health, wellness, and academic success, including stress management, sexual health, and drug and alcohol use. Talking to your student about these issues is vital to enhancing your student’s academic success and well-being.
Student Responsibility 101: Please join Dean of Students Dr. Christina Gonzales and representatives from the Office of Student Conduct, the Office of Victim Assistance, and the CU Police Department as they discuss the student conduct code, social and civic responsibility, communal living, and how parents can partner with university officials to ensure student success.
